MEET YOUR 2020-21 STUDENT BOARD
Hi! My name is Kassey Kytola and I am in my final year studying Secondary Special Education with an Emotional Impairment focus at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. Starting in September 2020, I will be student teaching and graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in November. This will be my second year on the student board for MCEC. While on the student board, I have been introduced to administration and educators from districts around Michigan along with other professionals in the field. I am looking forward to the year ahead representing students around Michigan as well as the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children.
Hello! My name is Katy Pluimer and I am a senior at Central Michigan University studying Elementary Special Education with a Cognitive Impairment focus and Early Childhood Development and Learning. This is my first year on the student board for MCEC. I am looking forward to this year on the student board.
Hi my name is Abby Proctor and I am the Secretary this year! I am currently a fifth year, finishing my last year at Grand Valley State University. I am studying Special Education with endorsements in Emotional Impairments and Cognitive Impairments. I am brand new to the student board this year and am excited to learn, and grow from the experience!
Hello! My name is Nicole Viers and I am a senior at Central Michigan University studying Special Education (Cognitive Impairment). I will be pre-student teaching this upcoming school year and can’t wait to get into the classroom! This is my first year with MCEC and I am super excited!
Hi! My name is Meredith Filter and I am the CAN Coordinator this year. This is my third year as a member of the CECS Board. I previously served a term as secretary. I am finishing my last semester at Grand Valley, studying special education with endorsements in Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities. In addition to MCEC, I have also served on GVSU’s chapter of CEC and as the Serve Global Intern for two years. I am so excited to see CEC grow, to connect with other professionals, and to help our membership get connected!
Hello! I’m the student advisor for the CEC-S board! I have been with MCEC for 20 years! I’ve been teaching for 15. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from CMU #FireUpChips and my Masters Degree from EMU. I work for Jackson County ISD and love going to work everyday!
